FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

11

What do I do if I cannot make my insurance payments?

Many of our insurance companies understand that this is a difficult time for individuals, families and businesses. For that reason they are helping customers by waiving missed payment fees or deferring payments for those that are faced with financial difficulty due to Covid 19. If this applies to you, please contact our office to discuss.

2

Can I save money on car insurance during Covid 19?

Yes, you are able to save money if the use of your vehicle has changed during the outbreak of Covid 19. If you are no longer driving to and from work, Bluenose can endorse your policy to reflect the reduced exposure of being on the road, less traffic, and having fewer collisions.

In addition, your insurance representative is available to speak about other changes that can reduce your premium:

Some of Our Insurers offer something called “My Driving Programs” which provides discounts up to 25% based upon your driving habits. Policy Deductibles can be increased to reduce premiums. We can review the value of your vehicle and the cost you are paying for collision and comprehensive.

3

Will the business interruption coverage under my business policy provide coverage for my interruption due to COVID-19?

Commercial insurance policies and traditional business interruption policies do not offer coverage for business interruption or supply chain disruption due to a pandemic.

Business interruption policies require proof that the premises sustained physical damage (fire, heat, windstorm, smoke) that is covered under the property policy and that an insured peril is what caused an interruption that resulted in a loss of business income.

4

What should I do if my business has changed or is temporarily closed?

It is important to keep your insurance company up to date. If your business is closed and the building is unoccupied for more than 30 days, you must notify your insurer to prevent an interruption in coverage.

If your business has been significantly impacted or your operations have changed, please contact your representative.

5
